What You Need to Know About Eating Disorders

Eating disorder or otherwise known as anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa is defined as abnormal eating habits characterized by excessive eating or inadequate eating. It affects adults, teenagers, and kids. Eating disorder is associated with behavioral development disorders common among teenagers and children. Social problems also cause eating disorder. Negative feelings and thoughts about self-look affect eating habits, leading to eating disorders.

Victims of eating disorder display confusion and after finding themselves into this, they tend to take drastic measures to lose weight or gain weight.

People with eating disorders see there is no need for treatment or counseling. For them it is a waste of time and eating disorder is not an alarming issue.

Asking for help when someone does not think he or she needs it can be hard. Admitting is tough and they show resistance from getting professional care for the disorder. For someone with a family or friend with eating disorder, approach them in a non-threatening, supportive, and hopeful way.

Many victims think medications are not effective for them.

Clinics or treatment centers employing professional persons for this purpose are supportive and they follow clinically tested, effective procedures in treating patients.

During the treatment, the patients should be on guard for adverse effects from overeating or insufficient eating. This is usually the trend. Overeating victims succumb to skipping meals and those under inadequate eating disorder will tend to overeat. This can cause very serious health problems. Varied health problems can occur and found to have direct link to overeating or inadequate eating.

Psychological issues are also common among eating disorder patients. Eating disorders can result from serious mental and behavioral health conditions, as well as trauma. Some notable complications for eating disorder patients are:

1. A drop in blood pressure, pulse, and breathing rate

2. Hair loss and fingernail breakage

3. Anemia

4. Swollen joints

5. Brittle bones

6. Loss of periods

7. Soft hairs grow all over the skin

8. Lightheadedness

9. Inability to concentrate

10. Constant stomach pain

11. Stomach and kidney damage

12. Tooth decay

13. ”Chipmunk cheeks”

14. Loss of the mineral potassium (can contribute to heart problems and even death)

If you observe that your child, a relative, or a friend is in this situation, seek for available help. It is not too late to help them. You can help and make a difference. Do not hesitate to extend your hand as soon as you spot the condition.

Acne skin care

Acne is defined as a diseased condition of the skin that involves the hair and oil glands. It is characterised by pimples, black/white heads, reddishness and cysts. Face acne can spoil your appearance to a great extent and body acne can really ruin your day by making you very uncomfortable. Considering acne as a minor problem, some people tend to totally discard the topic of ‘Acne skin care’. However, the importance of ‘Acne skin care’ cannot be undermined in any way.

Acne skin care should really start much before the acne actually appears. ‘Acne skin care’ is more about being proactive than reactive. Acne skin care is about being aware of preventive measures. Acne skin care is – following daily skin care routines with complete discipline.  So let’s have a look at how ‘acne skin care’ can be applied to our daily routine.

‘Acne skin care’ starts with the most basic thing – cleanliness. So morning showers are the most basic way of keeping the skin clean. In fact, a lot of people take night showers too (that not only helps in keeping your skin clean but also provides relaxation to your body and enables a good sleep). If you are living in a hot and/or humid place, a night shower becomes a must. In fact, a shower is recommended after any activity that causes high levels of sweat to develop. It’s a very effective ‘acne skin care ’ technique.

However, acne skin care is not about just showers. Acne skin care is also about wearing clean clothes and sleeping on clean pillows. Moreover, too tight clothes can cause sweat to accumulate quickly; so soft and comfortable cotton clothes are recommended, especially if you already have acne.  In the same sense, ‘acne skin care’ also advocates regular cleaning of your make-up brush and any equipment that you use on your body.

Besides that, you should also use a mild, water-soluble, oil-free and soap-free cleanser for keeping your face, neck and arms clean. Cleansing is the most important part of any acne skin care routine. Cleaners are the easiest and the most effective way of removing dirt, grease, pollutants and excess oil from your skin; thus reducing the probability of acne  occurrence.  Acne skin care also recommends removing your make up using a make up remover, and this should happen before you go to bed (not in the morning).

If you already have acne, do not try to touch them or squeeze them; it can lead to permanent scars. ‘Acne skin care’ advocates gentle cleansing and cleaning of the affected area using an over-the-counter medication and a clean/soft cotton pad. There are various acne skin care creams and lotions available over-the-counter (a lot of these acne skin care products are actually cleansers). However, if these ‘acne skin care ’ measures don’t give you the desired results, contact a dermatologist for ‘acne skin care’ advice and treatment.

Why Most Diets Don’t Work

Why Most Diets Don’t Work

Now we all know that getting six pack abs is a process that starts with losing that fat around your stomach so that your abdominal muscles can actually be revealed.

And for many people it is a huge problem to get rid of that flab around their stomach because there is just too much of it and it get their hopes down.

But, honestly it is easier than you think to get rid of that stomach fat, if you have a nutritional, all natural, consistent diet.

However, we won’t be addressing the topic of a good nutritional diet in this article, but we will covering why so many diets don’t work, and how you can avoid these diets.

Diets Need To Be Long Term

The problem is that many (almost all) diets simply don’t work on a long-term basis.

For this one huge reason, many dieters go through that effect of on and off weight gaining and weight loss, which I know I went through and it was extremely frustrating.

If you’ve tried a good amount of diets, they have probably been those types of diets that are just metabolic tricks to boost weight loss for a short amount of time, but not address the long-term problem.

These diets show good results, but what you want is a long term diet plan that gives you a good toned body for the rest of your life right?

That is why you want a diet that addresses biochemical bodily processes that are necessary for creating a lean, healthy, body for the rest of your life, not just short-term.

Another problem with many diet plans is that they don’t tend to target areas like your abdominal region, which is the most sought after weight loss area for most people.

Changes Start Inside Your Body

Of course you want a diet that is actually going to target the area of fat that you want it to and you also lose that fat in a natural way.

When I say natural way, I mean you want to use a consistent diet that actually uses your body’s natural internal components, such as hormones and other biochemicals.

By utilizing your body’s natural weight loss hormones, you’ll efficiently win the battle of the stomach bulge, that so many people are battling on a daily basis.

Another problem with so many weight loss or six pack diets, is that they don’t create an environment in your body that is fat-loss friendly.

When I say a fat-loss friendly environment “inside” your body, I mean that losing weight in the area you want to target means that you have to start the fat destroying process within your body before you see results in your physical figure itself.

You NEED Herbs And Supplements

A huge problem with so many diet plans is that they don’t provide you with a plan that includes proper nutrition and supplementation.

Cutting down on desserts and stuff can kinda make some differences, but the biggest thing you need to do is replace improper nutrition with a consistent diet plan that provides you with the best nutrition.

Also supplementation is always excluded in many diet plans, but with the use of herbs and supplements, you can increase your results by almost 50%.

Herbs and supplements MUST be included in your diet plan if you are really serious about losing weight and getting six pack abs fast.

So remember these huge tips when looking at diet plans:

Good diets must work on a long-term basis and not just for a short period.Good diets don’t play metabolic tricks on your body to lose weight fast for only a short amount of time.Good diets are all natural and use your own body to fix the fat problem.Good diets give you results that last for the rest of your life.Good diets give you confidence forever and not just for a week or two.Good diets can help you target the area you want to get rid of fat, especially the abdominal area.Good diets utilize your body’s natural hormones and biochemicals.Good diets create a fat-loss friendly environment inside your body.Good diets start the fat destroying process from within your body to create external results.Good diets replace your entire old nutritional diet with proper nutrition, instead of just a couple of things.Good diets add supplementation and herbs to your diet and nutritional plan.

Dieting Tips if You Are Feeling Fat After Thanksgiving

Unless you are on a fried chicken diet–with extra grease–it is going be be difficult for you to stay fat after you cut out all the sodas and drink water only as well as give up all cakes, crackers, bread, cookies and pies. Even people on protein diets have been shown to lose weight. Unless we are prepared to accept the proposition that you alone on the surface of the earth, violate the laws physics by gaining massive weight through the exposure to sunlight, we are forced to the conclusion that if you consume fewer calories you will lose weight.  One guy ate only Twinkies and lost weight.  What makes drinking soda such a mistake is that you take in the calories without realizing it. Switch to water or tea without sugar and you will be amazed how much easier it is to control your weight.

There may be some exceptions to the rule. You maybe on one of those sleeping pills that cause you to cook up and eat a 7 course meal in your sleep. Or perhaps alien zombies from the plant Uranus kidnapped you and after the prerequisite amateur proctology lessons, they injected you with space aged synthetic fat molecules until your eyeballs were swimming.

If on the other hand you have found a way to put on the pounds merely by inhaling oxygen, then all I can say is Eureka!. At long last the Holy Grail of modern science has been discovered. We are a living perpetual motion machine. We shall discard our gerbils and take you and others of your kind and put you all in giant hamster balls. You shall power our cars and fuel our society. Since you have the ability to transmute nearly weightless gasses into heavy matter we shall dub thee Super Gerbil and thou shalt be declared to be cooler than desk top nuclear fusion.

A Positive Approach Towards Men?s Sexual Health

Sexual health has been defined as the state of sexuality related to physical, emotional, mental and social well-being. A positive and respectful approach towards sexuality and sexual relationships is vital for attaining a sound sexual health.

Your feelings have a great impact on your sexual appetite. For example, if you are feeling anxious, bitter or angry towards your spouse you will not feel like having a sex with them.

Men’s sexual health is of immense concern nowadays. You could be the most affectionate man in the world but if you are unable to satisfy your spouse in the bed it can lead to relationship issues.

Sex is very important for a relationship to go smooth. Your inability to last in bed can turn your relationship bitter. Anxiety builds up in your mind making sex one of the most traumatic things in your life.

Various psychological factors are also considered while discussing men’s sexual health. Men’s failure to achieve their goal in life can put them into a state of depression. Avoidance to sex becomes natural in such a situation.

Other topics relating to men’s sexual health are as follows-:

•    Desire
•    Pleasure
•    Orgasm
•    Rapid or delayed ejaculation
•    Prostate health
•    Masturbation

A decrease in the production of testosterone in men makes them loose their desire in sex. Low sexual desire can also be the result of some chronic disease, hormonal imbalances, stress, fatigue or a poor body image.

Most of the men today suffer from erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction is a sexual dysfunction that immobilizes a man to develop an erection of the penis. Health problems such as high blood-pressure, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high cholesterol or depression contribute to erectile dysfunction. Anybody can be affected by this illness at any stage of life, but more often it is seen in men above the age of 40 years.

Early ejaculation in men who are single debars them from seeking an ideal partner.

Men usually hesitate to talk about their sexual health as it might hurt their ego.  They take it as a curse and begin living with it. Living under such a stress can lead to depression. If your husband feels the same, try taking to him. Make him feel comfortable and share his feelings with you. If necessary consult a doctor.

If you want to keep this issue as private, the best option for you is to seek levitra power. Levitra is a drug that helps men to improve their sexual health. It works by blocking an enzyme called phosphodiesterase-5, then relaxes smooth muscles in the penis and helps improve the blood flow. This results in a natural erection of the penis. Erection of penis will ultimately enhance your sexual desire thus giving you more pleasure.

Men’s sexual health needs considerate assistance. Do not dither to talk about your sexual problems with your spouse.

The Pros And Cons of Modern Diets That People Are Sold Into, Part 2

In this second part of the article, we continue to investigate the philosophy behind the diets that people adhere to and the advantages and disadvantages of them.

5) Balanced Macronutrient Ratios Diet (“the zone”)

The promoters of this diet claim that it helps in losing weight, extend ones life as well as lowering the risk of a heart attack. The diet advocates eating carbohydrates, protein, and fat (macronutrients) in the ratio of 40% carbohydrates, 30% protein, and 30% fat. The diet was created and promoted by Dr Barry Sears in the “zone” books. His goal is to produce a more balanced biochemical state in the body by reducing the carbohydrate intake while increasing the protein intake.

Pros: This diet is an improvement over the high Carb, low fat diet. It has the potential of reducing weight and leads to a more balanced blood sugar levels as well as a reduction in inflammation.

Cons: The downside of this diet is that it fails to address the quality of food eaten. There is also a shortage of fat-soluble vitamins A and D in this diet. Dr Sears endorses Soy Protein isolates which is an inferior source of protein containing high levels of Pytic acid. Soy protein has also been found to be highly allergenic and estrogenic which can be problematic in men and certain women.

6) The Ketogenic Low Carb Diet.

This include Dr Atkin’s New Diet Revolution, protein power, and the South Beach Diet. This diet was popularized because of studies acknowledging the diets effectiveness as a weight loss program. Diets under this category call for eating large servings of proteins and small amounts of carbohydrates. The low -carb diets mimic fasting or starvation because as the body is denied carbohydrates its metabolism speeds up and hunger urges are suppressed. When the body is denied glucose from the carbohydrate, it resorts to burning ketones, chemicals that the body produces from fat.

Pros: The benefit of the diet is of course the ability to lose weight. Under medical supervision, this diet can be used to manage certain illnesses including obesity, GI disorders, childhood epilepsy and certain brain tumors.

Cons: The downside of this diet is that most people end up eating high fat diets as opposed to low -carb diets. Some of the recommended foods can also be dangerous to the health of a human being. For example pork rinds which according to Dr Atkins are the “zero carbohydrates consolation price for corn or potato chip addicts” are an unhealthy alternative to a carb. Some of the diets recommend artificial sweetener such as aspartame and sucralose, which have been shown to be dangerous for human consumption.

7) The Food-Combining and Acid/Alkaline Diets

Many advocates of this diet believe that alkaline forming foods are essential because human kind evolved from an environment of the ocean. The problem with this diet is that it is based on a presumption which is not backed by scientific facts or Historical evidence. There is still no empirical evidence to show that the body is affected negatively by digesting certain foods when eaten in combination. This diet divides foods into the acid forming type and the alkaline forming type. The goal is to eat 80% alkaline forming foods and 20% acid forming foods.

Pros: There is evidence that many people experience improved digestion by avoiding combination of certain foods. This diet is particularly beneficial for those switching from junk foods to a more healthy diet. For majority of people however, most healthy foods eaten in combination have no negative effects just as it has been for generations.

Cons: The downsize of this diet is that people hooked to it run the risk of nutrients deficit similar to those found with those on vegetarian diets.

icon cool The Pros And Cons of Modern Diets That People Are Sold Into, Part 2 The Blood type Diet

The proponents of this diet believe that “our food requirements evolved with mankind over 40 million years since prehistoric times in essentially four flavors corresponding conveniently with the blood types-O, A, B, or AB”. This diet was popularized by Peter D’ Adamo, ND, in his best selling book, Eat Right for your type (Putnam, 1997).

According to Adamo, modern people with blood type O are descended from the earliest humans, who were physically active and ate a diet composed mostly of meat of large herbivorous mammals, with little or no grain. Therefore if you are type O, you also require a large amount of meat and lots of exercise.

Type A, according to Adamo are descendants of modern day agrarian humans and are more docile, and thrive on vegetables and fruits. This type should therefore avoid meat and dairy products. Type B are descendants of nomadic herders and thrive on dairy products and require moderate exercise. Type AB do not handle meat well and they should instead eat grains, fish, and soy based foods. The proponents of this diet argue that certain blood types are incompatible with specialized proteins in foods like cereals and beans. Because of this incompatibility, diseases like kidney failure and food allergies are caused.

Pros: The beauty of this diet is that it is a low calorie diet and therefore someone who has fed on junk food before turning to this diet will reap the benefits of losing weight naturally.

Cons: The problem with the diet is that it is unproven and is deemed more of a fad by the Scientific and nutritional community. It also has no anthropological backing and neither is it biblical.

Meditation and Self Hypnosis

Here are some useful ideas about mediation techniques and self hypnosis. Incorporate them into your daily life and feel the difference. Meditation reduces stress and refreshes your entire being.

Meditation to understand ourselves, takes us to a different level. This is where it gets to be personalized. Human temperaments are different, and while all are necessary to accomplish any task, each individual has a leaning ranging from a trusting devotion, to analytical, to those who want to jump right into something and experience it themselves.

Thus, one with a leaning towards an intellectual analysis will find oneself attracted to techniques that offer food for such a mind. Others, who are more faith /devotion oriented, may wonder at someone’s need for constant queries!

Thankfully, in our eastern philosophical system, (Sanatan Dharm in particular) all these temperaments are honored and Gurus have presented methods to suit all degrees of awareness. There are many kind of meditations, each one a prelude to the next step, each one enhancing the other. Here is a brief introduction to the different kinds.

There are two broad categories – Passive and Active meditation.

Passive methods are those that take us into the silence. . Examples of passive ones are mantra meditation, yantra (picture or mandalas or geometric pattern) meditation, or Breath meditation.

Active ones are those that utilize the silence to trigger creation. Examples of active ones are visualization, and others that actively instigate changes.

A third kind of meditation is in Buddhist traditions, and within our own yoga tradition in some ways is Present Moment (Mindfulness) meditation, whose focus is to learn to be very in accord with the present moment.

Therefore, if you are focusing on the present moment when you drive, or ride a rickshaw, or in fact when washing dishes, yes, you are doing a form of meditation. Whenever you can be in total experience of the current moment, you have dipped into the vat of bliss, one soak at a time. This it will lead you to your next step.

Self Hypnosis

Hypnosis – “an artificially induced trance state resembling sleep, characterized by heightened susceptibility to suggestion”

Hypnosis is an artificially induced state, which is useful in therapy to assist the process of breaking out of unhealthy habits. It is a controlled state and a specific outcome is achieved in it.

Meditation is a state where the mind is in total rest, so that the power of the higher (divine) Self within manifests itself. There is no question of control, either by you or by anyone else. Hypnosis is not encouraged for any beginners, because of possible harm.

Hypnosis is the process of inducing a suggestive state of mind where the critical thinking faculties are bypassed.

Autosuggestion is affirmations, suggestions, ideas that are placed in the mind while in that state. It works on the idea of Self Talk. We are products of what we say to ourselves.

As in a tape player/recorder, our Self Talk about our Beliefs, attitudes, wishes, (Samskaras, Vasanas) are constantly played in a repeat mode. Triggering, reinforcing more of the same thinking, and setting into action a process like self-fulfilling prophecy. Such self-talk is recorded in our tape player, through our experiences, in our families, community, and culture in general.

While there is enough from this lifetime, for those who believe in reincarnation, these may also be time tracked over several lifetimes.

Subliminal affirmations, auto suggestions, vocal /written affirmations, mantras, all serve to change such thinking patterns and self-talk which are felt to be unhealthy and unproductive. Self-talk may take many forms. They may be blanket generalizations, tunnel vision, assumptions (presuming to know what others are saying or thinking.

Now that does not mean one denies reality. If I wake up with a headache and say, “it’s going to be a rotten day”, I will probably create that for myself. However, if say, “I have this headache and perhaps it implies I need to take it easy and make it a good day” I will be more likely to achieve that.

All feelings are associated with some somewhat self-talk… it is an interesting exercise to do for oneself.
Concentration and the technique to address the wandering mind is one of the most misunderstood aspects of the meditation practices, recommended by many schools of practice.

Concentration means Exclusive attention. In meditation, the only concentration needed is being conscious of the fact that you are sitting in meditation. Beyond that, there is no force, no expectation, no failure or success, no self-reproach or condemnation, no judgment at all.

Let us look at the steps from a practical point of view. All these following steps are common to any activity you do on a regular basis, including work, study, cook, sleep etc.

1. Intention – One needs to have the intention for sitting down to practice meditation.

2. Assign space and time – Need to assign a spot and a time of day for the purpose.

3. Regularity – One needs to sit in this space and time whenever one is meditating.

4. Make a mental shift- Just as one has to make a mental shift from one activity involving a certain level of physical arousal to another, this too needs one. Meditation is a quieter/ low arousal activity, and in scheduling it immediately after a hectic one, one needs to be aware that the shift will take a little time. Hence, one recommends early morning time.

5. Complete the task – Whatever the length of time you assign for this activity, you need to complete it.

Practicing it regularly, 2 rounds of 15-20 minutes is good. Ideal times are early morning, and anytime in the evening.

During meditation the primary problem is our wandering, restless mind, visiting places, worrying, or planning. Do not fight this. The mind is trained in this mode of being; it is simply doing what it has been programmed to do over a long time. The practice of meditation re-programs the mind to a state more conducive to one’s potentialities.

Each time you notice that the mind has wandered, simple make a note of it – “My mind has wandered away.” Bring it back refocusing on the breath or mantra, whichever one you are using reminding yourself that you are in meditation right now. If it goes off again, bring it back gently, patiently without any judgment.

Just as you teach a child to walk, patience, repetition, and a total non-judgmental attitude is the key to experiencing the benefits of meditation.

YOG NIDRA

Lie on our back in shavashana, relaxed, with the tips of your toes pointing outwards, hands beside the body with palms facing up. If you wish, you may cover yourself with a blanket.

Close your eyes. Take a few long deep breaths. Relax more and more with every outgoing breathe.

Lie relaxed as you take your attention to the different parts of your body. Start by taking your attention to your feet, feel where your feet are touching the ground and become aware of them. Take your attention to your lower legs, knees, thighs, buttocks, back, stomach, chest, hands, arms, shoulders, throat, face, and head.

Become aware of your whole body. Become aware of your breath as it flows through you, energizing you with every incoming breath and relaxing you with every out going breath. Avoid falling asleep during the practice though initially you are likely to feel drowsy and sleepy.

Enjoy being with yourself and feel the freedom. Again, take a deep breath in and out. Slowly move your fingers, hands, and feet and stretch your whole body. Taking another, deep breath in, turn onto right side and slowly sit up.

However, simple yoga nidra is an extremely powerful practice in-stilling mental discipline. 5 minutes of this is more relaxing then full night sleep. It is also an ideal way to cool down after hectic activity including a session of yoga asana.

The Pros And Cons of Modern Diets That People Are Sold Into, Part 1

1) The Standard American Diet (SAD)

The standard American diet might typically consist of a doughnut or muffin with coffee and or Orange Juice for breakfast. For mid morning a person on such a diet will have a bagel with cream cheese. Lunch will generally consist of a sandwich with some chips and a soft drink or a fast food burger with extra cheese, a large order of French fries, and another large soft drink.

Ideally with this diet there is an afternoon snack consisting of a candy bar and perhaps another soft drink or coffee. Dinner will consists of some meat with a potatoes entrée with rolls laced with margarine and some kind of vegetables like green beans. The dessert will be a cake or ice-cream.

Cons: This diet needless to say is very unhealthy and left unchanged can lead to sadness as its name clearly describes it. Altering some of the foods in this diet will have an enormous positive effect on one’s energy and general health.

2) The vegetarian Diet (also known as The Genesis or Hallelujah Diet)

This ranks as the oldest of all specialty diet. People become vegetarians for various reasons which include both spiritual and philosophical reason. Others shun meat for health reasons based on the fear of saturated fats found in animal meats. There are various categories of vegetarians namely;

a) Lacto-ovo-vegetarians - These ones add dairy and eggs to their vegetable only diet.

b) Lacto vegetarians- They include dairy in the diet but do not eat eggs.

c) Vegans- They consider themselves purists because they do not eat any animal products. They have sworn to “never to eat anything that has or comes from something that has a face”. Because of this some will not even eat honey because of the bees that the honey comes from.

d) Fruitarian diet - A variation of the vegetarian diet and consume a diet that comprises fruits, nuts and seeds. Some who subscribe to this diet will only eat fruits and nuts that fall from a tree or plant because they avoid “killing” anything including plants.

e) Hallelujah and genesis diets- This diet is based on God’s instructions to Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. God told Adam and Eve” I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be food” Genesis 1:29.

Pros: The benefits of the vegetarian diet is its focus on vegetables and fruits and its avoidance of junk foods. This diet is known to decrease the toxic burden on the body and is of great value as a short term cleansing diet.

Cons: The diet is however unsuitable for long term because it deprives the body essential nutrients available only from meat and animal products which can have dire consequences to the body in the long run.

3) The Raw- Food Vegan Diet

Raw-food advocates never cook food before eating it. They believe that cooking weakens the potency of vitamins and minerals, which in the process destroys enzymes, and possibly introduces toxins. Some in this group suggest eating raw meat as well as raw fruits and vegetable.

Pros: The benefits of this diet are similar to those found with a vegetarian diet in that they consume organic fruits, vegetables and nuts. These are foods rich in antioxidants that prevent free radicals from damaging body tissues.

Cons: The downside of this diet is similar to that of the vegetarian diet. The diet is mostly lacking in quality protein unless raw meat is included. It is a diet that is difficult to stay on and may be lacking in vitamins (notably A,D and B) and essential fatty acids derived from animals and animal fats. Some of the advocates of this diet supplement the raw vegetarian diet with raw animal products such as unpasteurized dairy products, raw eggs, uncooked meats, poultry and fish.

There is however the added risk of contamination common in raw foods. Another factor to consider is that humans lack the enzyme cellulase necessary for digesting plant fibers. Undesirable intestinal microbes can ferment undigested sugar and fiber leading to gas production, inflammation, and abdominal pain in certain people.

4) The Anticandida (Antiyeast) Diet

This diet aims to avoid diet that activate Candida that affects many women in the form of vaginal yeast. Candidiasis, is a disease caused by a yeast fungus , candiada Albicans. This yeast often breeds in the throat, mouth, digestive tract, vaginal tract and on the skin. This same yeast however also has valuable functions in the digestive tract when checked by other more beneficial microorganisms in the intestine. Many cases of Candida occur after taking antibiotics that kill all bacteria in the gut.

Pros: The benefit of this diet is that it eliminates sugar in every form. This includes foods and beverages containing sugar which unfortunately also include fresh fruit and fruit juices. The basis of doing this is to starve the Candida fungus which feeds on sugar. Foods fermented with vinegar are also to be avoided which include soy sauce, vinegar pickles among such. Avoiding these foods may have an added advantage of lowering carbohydrates which help in balancing sugars and hormones as well as in weight management.

Cons: The downsize of this diet is that it can be very hard to follow because it excludes some very healthy foods like fruits and honey.

Omega 3 Oil For Mens Health

Fish oil may be particularly beneficial to men’s health, because of the omega-3 fatty acids they contain. Low intake of fish and low circulating levels of DHA, an omega3 fat, are associated with prostate cancer, BPH or enlarged prostate, prostatitis and with fertility issues, such as low sperm count and motility.

DHA Importance

DHA and other omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory activity and counter the effects of other types of dietary fat, such as omega 6 and saturated fats. If you haven’t heard already, you should not be eating anything that contains trans-fat. Food manufacturers are now required to list the trans-fat content, because it contributes to a variety of health problems and is not necessary to the human body.

Prostatis is an inflammation of the prostate gland. It usually begins gradually and lingers on for several weeks. Bacterial or other type of infection may or may not be present. Symptoms include pain and, if bacterial infection is present, fever. Protecting the prostate is an important part of men’s health. Fish oil, because of its anti-inflammatory activity, reduces the risk of prostatitis.

At birth, the prostate gland is tiny. It grows rapidly during puberty and a second growth spurt typically occurs after the age of 40. Nine out of ten men suffer from enlarged prostate or BPH by the time they reach the age of 85. A fish oil supplement may reduce the risk of BPH, which is benign. Studies have shown that blood levels of omega-3 fatty acids are lower in people with BPH and even lower in those with prostate cancer.

Sperm Count Increase

An important aspect of young men’s health, when they want to have children, is low sperm count or low sperm motility. Although the reasons for this are unclear, it has been shown that a fish oil supplement increases both the count and the motility of the sperm. Many scientists hope that supplementation will reduce the need for in-vitro fertilization, because infants born through IVF have greater health risks.

Heart Health Improved

One benefit of omega-3 fatty acids that is important to everyone is the reduced risk of heart disease. It is relevant to men’s health, because a man is more likely to suffer from a fatal heart attack than is a woman. A fish oil supplement is beneficial to the heart in several ways.

Clotting Risk Reduced

First, it reduces the risk of clotting. Clots can interrupt the blood flow to the heart, causing a heart attack. Blood clots are also responsible for stroke.

Second, omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to lower total and LDL cholesterol levels. High cholesterol, in particular, high levels of LDL cholesterol increase the risk of the heart disease that is typically seen in older people.

Commonly referred to as hardening of the arteries, atherosclerosis occurs when LDL cholesterol builds up on the interior portion of the arterial walls.
